█ Signing of an MOU for the supply of lithium sulfide, the main raw material for sulfide-based solid electrolytes.

█ After the completion of the solid electrolyte pilot plant in June of this year, it will undergo a stabilization phase, aiming to establish a production system capable of producing 1,200 tons per year by 2026.

█ Kim Yeon-seop, CEO, said, 'Through the strategic partnership between the two companies, we expect to maximize synergy in the collaboration of next-generation battery material businesses.'

LOTTE ENERGY MATERIALS(CEO Kim Yeon-seop) announced on the 14th that it signed an MOU with ISU Specialty Chemical(CEO Lyu Seung-ho) on the 13th at the Executive Briefing Center(EBC) on the 113th floor of LOTTE World Tower in Jamsil, Seoul, for the supply of lithium sulfide, a raw material for sulfide-based solid electrolytes.

Key executives from both companies, including Kim Yeon-seop, CEO of LOTTE ENERGY MATERIALS, Ryu Jong-ho, Head of Strategy Research Division, Kim Hoon, Head of Planning Division, Lyu Seung-ho, CEO of ISU Specialty Chemical, Kim Chang-guk, Head of Research and Development Department, and Choi In-joon, Planning Team Leader, attended the MOU signing ceremony.

Through this MOU, LOTTE ENERGY MATERIALS will receive lithium sulfide(Li2S), the core raw material for sulfide-based solid electrolytes, from ISU Specialty Chemical, which will enable LOTTE ENERGY MATERIALS to supply high-quality solid electrolyte samples to domestic and international solid-state battery companies.

Prior to this, LOTTE ENERGY MATERIALS commenced construction of a solid electrolyte pilot plant with a maximum capacity of 70 tons at the Iksan Plant 2 on the 5th. The plan is to undergo testing and stabilization phases by the end of this year, aiming to expand production facilities to a scale of 1,200 tons per year by 2026.

Kim Yeon-seop, CEO of LOTTE ENERGY MATERIALS, said, 'Through the strategic partnership between our two companies, LOTTE ENERGY MATERIALS has gained momentum in the business by receiving lithium sulfide, the essential raw material for sulfide-based solid electrolytes.' He further stated, 'Building upon the synergy of this MOU, we will continue to strengthen research and development in the field of next-generation battery materials.'

Meanwhile, the sulfide-based solid electrolytes being developed by LOTTE ENERGY MATERIALS are nano-sized products with high ionic conductivity, applying low-cost dry synthesis methods and special wet synthesis methods. Additionally, LOTTE ENERGY MATERIALS is also developing moisture-stable sulfide-based solid electrolytes with high ionic conductivity that can be manufactured and handled at the dew points(-35°C to -45°C) of conventional lithium-ion battery(LIB) processes, as they are sensitive to moisture.
